Quilt Scrap Jack Enjoys Oregon Garden

Grand-daughter's bunny hides in the garden.

One of the first Quilt Scrap Jacks that came from the Ash Creek Nativities studio.  I still like this cheery gal...I was up visiting grandbabies and had fun doing yardwork.  A helper and I covered the side yard with lot's of river gravel...trying to cover up the bark dust that the pug, Bella, is so allergic to...

Handmade Toy Alliance

Just joined the Handmade Toy Alliance (HTA) today. It is a strong advocate to protect "small batch" toymakers from the pending government restrictions which supposedly will "protect" U.S. children from dangerous toys like the ones being produced in China. If this legislation passes, it will destroy many U.S. toy companies. If you would like to join, the beginning level is free. Get more information at Handmade Toy Alliance

Heading Down S. Cortez Street

Setting up the "shop" for the occasional market "Revival" at Figgy's Trading Post on NORTH Cortez Street here in Prescott.  Looking forward to hanging out on Friday and Saturday.  Hopefully will get to peek out and see the Christmas Parade! :)

Folk Arts Fair

Spent last Sunday volunteering in the "Farm & Fiber District" at the Sharlot Hall Museum.  Always the first weekend in June, we're now seeing grown-up children bring THEIR children to learn how to make cornhusk dolls, grind corn, dip candles, churn butter &  eat Dutch-oven biscuits, watch weaving, spinning & dyeing demostrations. punch tin, pan for gold, or just play checkers under a shady tree while folk musicians perform...This is the second year that I've sat at a friend's wonderful millinery display in the Transportation building where tatting, lacemaking, crocheting & quilting is demonstrated.  Just outside are the poultry, goats & a sheep shearing demonstration.

It gave me a good seven hours to work on Quilt Scrap Jacks as my needlework, even though I need to come up with a better system since I kept dripping jackrabbit body parts as I would jump up to take visitor's photos, or answer questions...anything to make the steady stream of wonderful visitors feel welcome...

The lady that demonstrates the lacemaking has voluteered at this event for 38 years...wow!

"Lucy" the New Hen

Busy working on new Quilt Scrap Jacks -- little sleeping baby rabbit cloth sculptures -- but Lucy, the new Rhode Island Red, takes priority in our sudden 90 degree heat.  She loves the fact that the gray water from the bathtub & sink drains into her chicken run.  Definitely keeps her cool!
